Population of 4000 soles received from an induced spawing (COB-BREST), with a mean weight o£ 54 mg were introduced into a man modified lagoon (1000 m2 ) at Certes (4 soles/m2 ). The experiment was continued until December 1977 and permitted an analysis of the demographic evolution of the population : structure number, biomass, growth, production. Lipids, together with proteins, are traditionally considered as primary fuels during aerobic swimming. The effects of dietary fat and carnitine supplements and exercise on the energy metabolism of juvenile fish were investigated. One hundred African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) were fed four isonitrogenous diets containing a fat level of 100 or 190 g kg-1 diet and one of the two levels of carnitine (15 and 1000 mg kg-1). Fish grew from 61 to 162 g in 10 wk. Thereafter, 6 fish per group swam vigorously for 3 h and the results were compared with unexercised groups. The objective of this study was to evaluate the feeding management of pacu juveniles (P. mesopotamicus) under different feeding rates and its relation with productive performance, body composition and hematological characteristics. A total of 300 fish with initial weight of 84.75±4.52 g were distributed in a completely randomized design composed of four treatments (100, 90, 80 and 70% of feed supply) and five repetitions. The amount of feed was stipulated according to the quantity supplied in the treatment until apparent satiation (100%) of the day before. Incidencia de Yersinia ruckeri y Edwarsiella sp. en especies de interés comercial de la acuicultura cubana en el período 2006-2008 OceanDocs

Las especies Yersinia ruckeri y Edwardsiella sp. son patógenos de importancia económica por la alta morbiletalidad que provocan en la acuicultura. En este trabajo se analiza la frecuencia de aparición y el comportamiento epizootiológico de ambos patógenos en los peces de cultivo en Cuba, en diferentes regiones del país y en sistemas de cultivo extensivo en embalses e intensivo en estanques y jaulas flotantes, del 2006 al 2008. Del total de brotes analizados, estas especies se encontraron en 18 eventos epizoóticos, cuatro en el 2006, 12 en el 2007 y dos en el 2008.
